I have lost 2.2 pounds. For those of you who do not have thyroid problems, let me explain: this is a miracle on the order of loaves and fishes. Generally, on a diet, I can expect to lose, oh, half a pound a month. Also, just to get a little too personal for a moment, my period is due tomorrow. Which means that I should be getting plumper right now, but miraculously, I am not.
Of course, this could have something to do with the sheer volume of salty treats I’d ordinarily be stuffing down my gullet. But weirdly, I’m not really having any cravings.
Before you think I’ve chucked all my ethics and become a shill, I should tell you that I almost started weeping last night while preparing my high-protein snacks for today. If you do this diet, please take Haylie’s advice and do as much cooking as possible the weekend before. As Adam said, “This is a lot of cooking, and you don’t really like to do any.” He is correcto.
On that note, another positive thing about this diet is that it’s making me realize how much prepared food I eat. I don’t eat a lot — every time I have to prepare a food diary for one of my new, nice doctors, they sort of look sad at how relatively good I am, given how chubby I also am — but I eat a lot of stuff that’s already made. I’m starting to think that this is part of the issue. In which case, I’m springing for the giant crockpot, because there’s no way I’m really going to start cooking seven nights a week.

I am one day ahead of you and you are blogging exactly what i feel! that is awesome! I have lost 4 pounds in 4 days and feel like a rock star! the 2 days of protein/veggie have been harder than the first 2 days, but not anything that I find I can’t do! I am going to keep reading your blog as it is so much like my own experience!
I can’t stop laughing because this is EXACTLY me today. I don’t have much weight to lose so I just figured I’d lose 5lbs in 28 days but when I stepped on the scale today, I lost 2.8lbs!!! Well, Haylee said in her book that you will get cocky in week 3…ummm I’m cocky in DAY 3! I’m ready to walk the runway with you! Lol.
Oh and your pic of day 1 was me too! I think I was slurring my speech and felt like I got hit by a truck (not sure what that really feels like, but I was pretty sure I did!) I couldn’t believe how addicted I was to coffee.
Good luck on your weight loss!
have you considered telling us what you have been eating for meals? keep up the good work!
I am also on day 3 and finding Phase 2 much more challenging than Phase 1. I am not a big meat eater and I don’t eat eggs at all so breakfast was a real challenge. I am also missing my caffeine very much. I have 35 lbs. to lose so I plan to stick to this diet. Looking forward to blogging with you.
So much more challenging! I’m just not a huge meat person. Or vegetable person, let’s be honest.
True very true! Looking forward to phase 3. I will check the scale in the morning and let you know what I lost so far 🙂
Yay! Im on day 3 of the first week too! So happy to have you to go through this with me! Keep it up…..cuz Im counting on ya! 😉
This is also my day 3 and I can’t express how much I hate egg whites….oh well it’s only for 2 days 🙂 Also I believe that addiction applies to sugar as well and considering I ate almost an entire party sized bag of peanut m&m’s before starting this diet I basically want to put my face in a pile of cake icing right about now 😉
OMG, egg whites, enough already. I’m with you on the icing, and I’m not even usually a sweets person. However, I was sorely tempted to run into a bar this afternoon when I saw everyone eating fried things in the sunshine.
This is day 10 for me, down 6lbs but during week 1 forgot my snack and then sat half way through a movie before shoveling popcorn down my throat…so really not counting last week in that 28 days (but I’m jeeping that 6lbs!). By the way…when you’ve been eating well for a few days and then eat a half bucket of greasy popcorn, your body will hate you and make you regret every bit of it. Also, my mom started this with me and around day 4 we both were struck with body aches… almost flu like symptoms. Nothing a little ibuprofen, lots of water and a goodnights rest couldn’t fix.
I am on day 3- wont eat egg whites either- so i had deli ham and sauteed spinach for bkfast- it actually was nice
I am on day 4, so I have just started this diet. I had headaches the first day due to giving up caffeine. I don’t like a whole lot of veggies, so phase 2 has been more of a struggle. So looking forward to phase 3 beginning tomorrow. I wish you success with this journey and am looking forward to following your blog.
OMG,you are all funny! My husband & I started this last weekend & I lasted about 1/2 a day & he lasted about 3. We are going to give it a go again this weekend once I actually read the whole book & shop properly for groceries. Right now I feel icky & large so maybe the first week on the diet I will feel icky & skinny? ; ). Would love to read about & share tips & tricks!
I’ve been on the program over a week. Weight loss was 2 1/2 lbs in a week. Kind of bummed but with thyroid issues that’s ok w me. Any suggestions to get a better weight loss #.? Plan on staying on it. I to agree with Thyroid problems any weight loss is good.
Hey Marie! The very first thing I’d do is to make sure my thyroid was being treated properly. For example, I’m hypothyroid, and unless my TSH is under 2, I can’t lose weight (or feel good, or act right, etc.).
If you’re also hypothyroid, or had yours removed, this might help: http://thyroid.about.com/cs/hypothyroidism/a/undertreated.htm. In fact, anything on this site is good for thyroid people. Mary Shomon is the master thyroid lady.
Feeling better about day 4 since I weighed in this morning and have lost 5 lbs!!! I must say I was over 5 lbs from my normal weight when I started though due to the binging I did over the weekend before I started. Going to be traveling this weekend and have to really plan my foods today. Going to the grocery in a few minutes-Have a great Day!
That’s AMAZING! Go you!
