OK, so do you think the author of your shirt was, or knew someone who was “like, really daddio, sorta.. groovy” in the 50’s beat generation?
In the Village (pre 1960), I am told (I was 10 or so and lived 1000 miles away so how do I know for sure?) “TCTB?” was short for asking (someone else, usually another guy) about a woman’s rep.
Translation: It’s a question.
T stands for “Tendancy” meaning personal proclivity (inaccurately, sure, but we’re talking about street talk, here pucky)
B stands for “Babe”, being just the kind of a girl that you wanted to get really involved with.
C stands for… let’s just say Megger’s most unfavorite word, meaning someone who was way more trouble than abidable.
So TCTB meant, “Tendency C, or Tendency Babe?”
People wore T shirts with “TC” or “TB” or “TB Wanted” or “TC Need Not Apply”, or “TC Required” on them.
Actually, it’s a real live T-ball tee shirt. Boys size 10.
