I’ve done the WriMo several times.
Once while teaching myself how to type on a new keyboard layout… oddly, that’s the only year I actually managed 50,000 words. That also turned out be only about half the novel. And there’s nothing wrong with doing research first. It beats doing hours of research and THEN trying to write 1,700 words in the same day.
